My Story
Hey there,
I’m so glad that you have found your way here. I want to share with you some highlights along my journey toward becoming a Vedic meditation teacher, with the intention of letting you know just how much this practice means to me. This practice, in many ways, saved my life and to this day, offers me a tool and a touchstone into the truth of who I am amidst the flux.
My decision to teach was born naturally out of my own personal healing and self-discovery. Stress, simply defined, is an overwhelm to the senses. In my early years, I lacked the skills to regulate my nervous system and fell into depression, social anxiety, and an eating disorder that eventually led to hospitalization. In hindsight, it was a blessing as it offered me the opportunity as a young teen to wake up to the mechanics of my mind and the way I had placed my value in the external world.
I moved to Boulder, Colorado, where I found an outpatient treatment program that I could attend while studying psychology at the University of Colorado at Boulder. It was there that I stumbled upon the practice of yoga. This practice brought my mind and body back together through breath. It was the one space where I felt I could put into practice what I was studying and learning in therapy, moment by moment, breath by breath. As my mind-body connection strengthened, so did my connection with my own aliveness and the interconnectedness of it all. It gave me real, in-the-moment feedback on the point of it all. A passion grew to share this with those I loved, and I began teaching yoga to hold the same space that saved my life.
I invested in healing my neurochemistry, began studying neuroscience and somatic psychology in grad school, and started traveling back and forth to India to deepen my practice and understand the full breadth of the yogic system from where it originated. A transformative moment there introduced me to the partner of a Vedic meditation teacher who had studied first-hand with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi for over 30 years, the founder of Vedic Meditation. From the moment I learned Vedic Meditation, I felt a deep shift. After studying so intimately the various practices out there, this felt like home. It addressed the brain chemistry imbalance out of struggling with my mental health for so long. I owe my life to this practice.
After apprenticing under my teacher while caring for her son, we founded a Vedic meditation studio in Boulder, Colorado in 2017. The experience witnessing so many of my loved ones' lives shift through this practice made it very clear I wanted to teach this technique to everyone I could.
One of the main reasons it has worked so well for me is that the technique itself repaves our neural pathways. In essence, it’s a deep rest practice. The way we use our mantra and the nature of the mantra’s vibration take our body into the deepest rest state possible, called a hypo-metabolic parasympathetic state. It’s the exact place our nervous system needs to be in to release deep-rooted trauma and day-to-day stressors without re-experiencing them.
The experience we have in Vedic Meditation is not that of sifting through our past; it’s that of the expanding present. It’s a science of being that translates into a life of more flow and saying yes to life’s ever-unfolding newness.
By clearing the mind and body, this practice empowers us to be more engaged in the present and tap into our creative potential. It is for this reason that so many big players in the entertainment industry practice this technique.
So, why should you learn from me? I invite you to tune into how you feel as you read this! If you feel a spark within, there is your answer. All I can tell you is that there is nothing more important to me in this life than to share what has expanded my sense of love and presence. I’ve devoted my life to this pursuit. How could I not?
Through over a decade of dedicated practice, I have immersed myself in twice-daily meditation and Siddha practice. Throughout this time, I have studied the ancient texts from which this practice comes, The Vedas, which outline how to align with the laws of nature. This is the foundation from which I will teach you the mechanics of how to fine tune your brain and reality. I also source my teaching from my time living in India and immersing myself in the source of this ancient five-thousand-year-old tradition. I am here to support you in experiencing the deep peace and empowerment that this practice has brought into my life. I cannot wait to teach you if you feel called! Reach out, let’s talk more about it.
All my love,
Victoria
